MyIdy.net is a free community calendar and guide for Idyllwild and Pine Cove. Most people use it without telling us anything about themselves. This page explains what the site keeps when you do give it something, who sees it, and how to change or remove it. It is written in plain language on purpose.
The short version: the site sets no tracking cookies, runs no analytics or advertising, and never sells or shares your information. The only cookie it uses is the one that keeps you logged in after you sign in.
Just visiting
Reading the calendar, the guides and the articles requires no account and sets no cookie. Like every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs of each request (the address your connection comes from, the page asked for, the browser used) for a short time, for security and troubleshooting. Nothing in those logs is used to identify or profile visitors.
Members
When you join, the site keeps your name, your email address and a password, which is stored in scrambled form that no one, including us, can read back. You can add a picture, a short bio, a website and the kind of member you are. Your profile appears in the members list only if you tick the box that makes it public; otherwise only the site’s editors see it.
Events you post appear on the public calendar with the details you enter. Your email address is never shown on the site.
Guide listings
A guide listing is a public page about a business or a person who wants to be found, so the details you enter for the public (the name, address, phone number, email, website and contact person) appear on the site and can be found by search engines. The owner’s email address and private phone number are kept for the editors only and are used to ask about the listing, to confirm changes and to let you claim it as your own account.
Email we send
The site emails you only about your own account and your own listings and events: to confirm your address, to reset a password, when something you submitted goes live, and when a listing is waiting to be claimed. There is no newsletter and no marketing email. Messages are sent through Resend, an email delivery service.
Cookies
One cookie, set only when you log in. It tells the site who you are on each page and is deleted when you close the browser, or after seven days if you chose to stay logged in. It carries no tracking and is not shared with anyone. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no social-media buttons that report back.
Because the site does not track visitors, there is nothing for a browser’s “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” setting to switch off; the site behaves the same with or without them.
Who else sees your information
The site runs on services that store its data on servers in the United States: Vercel (hosting, pictures and server logs), Neon (the database) and Resend (email). They process the data only to run the site for us. Nothing is sold, rented or handed to advertisers or data brokers, and no third party collects information about you across other websites through this one. We would disclose information only if the law required it.
Changing or removing your information
Members can change their name, email address, password, picture and profile visibility in account settings, and edit their own events and listings from their account page. To remove an account, a listing or an event, or to ask what the site holds about you, email Nikki at nikki@myidy.net. Requests are handled by a person, usually within a few days.
Children
The site is written for adults and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If a child has created an account, email us and it will be removed.
Changes to this page
If what the site does changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Significant changes are announced on the site.
